Virtue and a Sledgehammer demo

The demo is its own Steam app, 3743280, named Virtue and a Sledgehammer Demo. It went up on 7 June 2026, it is free, and it is Windows only. Steam’s news post called it “the first half hour” and “the first area of the game.” The full game, out 27 October 2026, continues past that area. Download it from the demo store page.

Getting the demo

Open the official Steam demo page above and use its free download option. Steam handles installation on a Windows PC. This guide does not host a ZIP, cracked build or browser port. Download size and demo-to-retail save transfer are unknown in the sources checked here; the retail storage requirement is not a demo download size.

Names and separate releases

• False Awakening naming. The name appears on fingerspit’s soundtrack EP (8 tracks, 3 July 2026). The official Bandcamp description also calls the demo False Awakening; Steam uses the application title Virtue and a Sledgehammer Demo. See the soundtrack.
• Not Virtue: Prologue. Prologue is a free visual novella from 22 October 2026 by Juno Menager with the two studios, downloaded from Pantaloon. It covers the story before the opening car crash. It is not this demo and not a sequel.
• Not a browser game. Both the demo and the full game need Steam. Prologue is a direct download, not an embed.

I have no source for whether demo saves carry into the full game. That cell stays empty. Rock Paper Shotgun’s June demo piece describes Virtud, the mother, Nina, the church, and the robots, which matches the “first area” line.
